Joint pain seriously hinders your ability to enjoy normal everyday activities.
But how does chiropractic provide relief and correction for joint pain? In my Staunton office, Lowman Chiropractic offers a range of holistic tools to keep your spine strong and your life active!
Let’s take a look.
Family Chiropractic: Hip Pain Causes and Chiropractic
Frequently, hip pain is the result of osteoarthritis or an injury. Either way, inflammation is triggered causing the area to become filled with blood, or fluid, and that means pain!
With chiropractic care and other complementary holistic treatments, patients find their hip pain abates.
Multiple studies have also found that regular chiropractic adjustments are effective in relieving sciatica, which is a common cause of hip and lower back pain.
SI Joint Pain and Chiropractic
The sacroiliac joint, or SI joint, is located near the base of the spine where the pelvis and sacrum connect. The major causes of SI pain are:
With pregnancy, hormones cause the ligaments to relax, which allows excessive movement in the SI joint, and that causes the bones to rub against each other.
If I discover that joint restrictions are part of the SI problem, I will use chiropractic adjustments to restore proper alignment and functioning.
If, however, the joint is unstable, I may ask you to wear, temporarily, an SI belt to stabilize your SI joints.
Finally, I will most likely recommend specific stretching or strengthening exercises in addition to chiropractic adjustments. This will help to balance the alignment of your pelvis.
Back Pain
Senior citizens probably complain the most about lumbar back pain. And that’s understandable. As you age, bodily structures like your spine degenerate, leading to arthritis, stiffness, circulatory problems, even constipation!
What’s interesting about treating arthritis of the back is chiropractic’s role. A study revealed that regular spinal adjustments were found to be more effective in reducing lumbar pain than just the standard application of moist heat.
Additionally, when moist heat was added following a gentle spinal manipulation, the pain threshold went down even more. You can read the full study here.
In addition to gentle spinal manipulation, I use my toolkit of science-based holistic services to get you back to your active life without the use of drugs:
I don’t want to just patch you up; I want to create a treatment plan that gently aligns your spine and cares for your joints so that your muscles can move properly. This allows your body to heal itself and stay well.
While I cannot turn back time, I can assist your body in maintaining a full range of motion so that you can perform every day daily living activities.
Sometimes that can mean the difference between independent living and assisted living.
Keeping your spine strong will allow you to maintain normal activity for many years.
Repetitive Stress Injuries
Golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tendonitis…these are all repetitive stress injuries. As the name implies, these injuries occur from repeating the same motion over and over again for a long period of time.
The muscles and tendons get strained, which causes microscopic tears. If not treated, the damage increases and chronic problems take hold.
Here at Lowman Chiropractic, I effectively treat repetitive stress injuries using several treatment modalities to ease and heal the injured site.
Your body is an amazing healer if given what it needs to heal! With chiropractic, your body is gently encouraged to begin that miraculous healing process.
